Bal Saptakam
For some time now Saptakam is contemplating over an idea that would enhance musical understanding of the kids and may music in turn have its own good effects on their minds.
There has been collective discussions over this concept that we could take some shlokas, song(s) (or Saragam to begin with) and try to practice it consistently over few Saptakam meetings. We could even try to reserve some time for this activity in our regular meetings. We guess sincere and consistent efforts would be very beneficial to the kids.
It is been thought that during such sessions it is very important that kids able to enjoy music and there should be fun around for them. There was also an opinion that Bal Saptakam sessions would be even more interesting when we have musical instruments to accompany along.
In regards to Bal Saptakam, we discussed that, it is most important to create such an atmosphere around kids where they start picking up few nice things. We may not compel them to do certain things, but creation of good atmosphere would have its own nice effects on their minds.
An experiment of Sa Re Ga Ma and singing few songs together has really come out to be successful, where we all have seen that kids have picked it up well. And with this they could also participate in Saptakam Performance at Finnish Daycare.
Let us all try to evolve Bal Saptakam thoughtfully and patiently.
Suvalakshmi has very nice suggestions in this regards. She mentioned, it would be nice if we can start from Basic Sa re ga ma.... and few Sargams. Then we can take some songs or Stotrams.
Few song came in discussion are,
1. Nanha munna rahi hu,
2. Hum Honge Kamyab,
3. Jana gana mana,
4. Vande Mataram.
1. Lakdi ki kathi,
2. Re mamma, re mamma re,
3. Chal chal mere hathi from Hathi mere sathi,
4. Haina bolo bolo,
5. Lalla lalla lori,
6. Maine kaha pholoon se,
7. Ichak dana
In Meeting_30052010, it was very nice to sing together a song Hum Honge Kamyab. Thanks to Suvalakshmi and Diganta for taking printouts of this song and distributing it to all, to sing it together at Saptakam, along with Kids.
